More Random Pictures

To continue on the posts from last time, here are more pictures taken on my cell. They are in no really logical order.

Napping on the couch is a favorite evening pass time.

Lola had to wear boots in the winter to protect her feet on our long walks. After she got her hair cut, she also had to wear a coat to stay warm.

"I am totally pulling this off!"

Here she is "helping" John pull up some stumps from some ugly bushes.

This was the last snowbank in our neighborhood. Lola treated it like her throne.

Random pictures

Looking back in the photo album on my cell phone, I have lots of great pictures of Lola that I thought I would share. They aren't in any particular order, but that's okay.

Lola snoozing in a chair - one of her favorite spots.

Playing in the snow with dad.

"I LOVE THE SNOW SO MUCH!"

Being a nice, calm pup.

Chewing a toy on the chair (which is much better than just chewing on the chair).

A tired puppy is a good puppy.

Post-nap grogginess.

If Lola did yoga, this would be her signature position. It is "tired puppy pose."

Lola and dad proudly showing off the freshly painted basement wall and floor.

"Do I have something on my face?"

The Portuguese Snow Dog

Well, it has been about 6 months since my last posting.  Lots has changed in the last half a year or so. One of the big changes is that I have a new job that kept me really, really busy (which explains the lack of updates). But Lola has also been growing and learning lots in the past months. It seems Lola is full grown now and is weighing in at around 40 pounds. She is still as cute as ever, but now looks more like a dog than a puppy. She is now over a year old and we are still loving every day with her.

Let me try to catch up on some of the time I have missed, starting with her first snow (from November 2010). Lola LOVES the snow! We joked that she is a Portuguese Snow Dog instead of a Water Dog. She loved to spend time running, jumping, digging, and playing in the snow. She especially loved the snowbanks - the bigger the better. In the backyard, she liked to stand on top of the banks and try to dig straight down to the ground. She never quite made it, but a few times she came really close.

Here she is waiting to go outside to see the first snowfall in her lifetime. Look at her cute bedhead!

Old toys are like new toys when covered with snow.

Lots of new snow to sniff, not to mention dig around in.

Always the helpful puppy, Lola wants to try to help shovel.

Helping dad roll a giant snowball.

The first outing ended up with a glove chase around the backyard.

Leafing fall behind

Happy new year everyone! Like a good little pup, Lola has made a new year resolution: to jump less. John and I aren't sure she will keep it, but we will keep working with her. We also decided that 2011 is a good year to let her on the furniture. So, she is happily napping on the couch as I am writing.
Since I haven't posted in a while, I am going to do a few flashback posts and hopefully then I can get some more current pictures up.
A few days before the first snow fell in mid-November, John and I were out raking leaves in the front yard. Our little helper was out there digging, playing, and generally not being very helpful. But she had a really great time! Here are some pics:
Trying to eat leaves.
Posing for a picture!
Lots of interesting stuff to sniff in a leaf pile.

Lots of Lola

We continue to learn new things about Lola all the time! She is an amazing little puppy with a very unique personality. She is a very funny little dog who seems to really like to make us laugh. She has finally decided that she loves to fetch - some nights it seems we fetch for hours on end. It is a great way to get rid of some of her energy (which she has plenty of).

She loved this ball - so much so that she chewed through it in no time.

We took Lola to a Howl-O-Ween party the weekend before Halloween. The Portuguese Water Dog Club of the Twin Cities hosted a great party for lots of PWDs. There were lots of activities, like bobbing for hot dogs, tricks for treats, and a dog version of a cake walk. Since a costume didn't seem like a good option for her, we got a flower to put on her collar.

"Aren't I pretty?"

Heading into the party!
Of course we have lots of fun just hanging around the house with Lola. Sometimes she is crazy, silly, and busy. Sometimes she is really snuggly and calm. It's too bad we can't fully capture her personality in pictures, but we are trying.

Snuggling on our chair.
Interesting fact about Lola: she loves peanut butter, sweet potatoes, and bananas.
"Why play with one toy at a time when I can pile two up and lay on them while chewing on a stick?"
Another interesting fact: Lola's middle name is Lopp. Our niece and nephew gave her the middle name after a character in a Dr. Suess book.

Just a crazy puppy.

We dog sat for our friends dog Lucy about a month ago. Lucy is such a great dog! She is our second favorite dog (after Lola). She is a beautiful dog and we love having her around. We felt bad for her because Lola constantly wanted to play with her and Lucy, being quite a bit older, wasn't so interested in playing.

Lucy checking out the back yard.

Lola running by Lucy trying to get her to play. This was a common theme for the weekend.

This was the best picture we got of the two of them. Lola was pretty tired by this point so she wasn't
harassing Lucy too much.

Last swim of the season

A few weeks ago, we took Lola down to the river for her last swim of the season. She had a great time fetching a big stick in and out of the water. She was equally interested in the sand, leaves, and sticks all over. It was a beautiful, fun day - and she was one tired pup when we got home.

Headed to the river. Lots of new, good things to smell!

Headed down the bank.

Watching the boats go by. (Look at her skinny legs!)

Playing with dad in the water.

"Oh boy! This sand smells really good!"

"Gotta get that stick!!!!"

Hanging out around home

Here are some more recent pictures of Lola just hanging around the house. She is still losing teeth - I swear she must be on her fifth set of teeth by now she has been loosing teeth for so long! She is still growing, but not nearly as fast as she was a month ago.

Lola sitting on her ducky blanket. She is probablly planning on how to get laundry out of the hamper.

A tired puppy is a good puppy.

Such a happy pup! Two of her favorite toys are a stuffed ground squirrel and an artichoke.

Lola being naughty and sitting on the recliner. (But isn't she cute?)
